Q. Could you explain about you?    

I am a new graduate from Shenkar College of Design and Engineering. Nowadays, I focus my work on interactive design and toy design. I am perhaps most fascinating by simple and smart ideas, and I attempt to locate such ideas in unexpected places. I believe that human-computer interaction will be more tangible in the future through the human need of sensorial experience. Imagine, for example, a reality where you can touch loved one face from miles away, or be able to smell from afar a home-cooked meal: an idea perhaps made possible in the near future. So that, for me, an inventions is the fusion between a known things into new and exciting objects, bringing a smile to one's face. When I design, I attempt to invent products that make the user look different at something.






Q. Congratulations to the Asia Design Prize 2018. I would like to introduce your work description.    

2C3D is a camera for the blind or visually impaired, that supports the tactile sense of visual data. Using inspiration from pin art toys, the device is a depth-sensing camera that converts visual data into tactile data, representing forms like faces with a great deal of accuracy. Allowing the visually impaired to touch what they see without actually touching them, the 2C3D is a rather wonderful tool to allow the visually impaired to recognize faces, objects, and even perform more nuanced functions like read expressions, lips, etc. The 2C3D camera also allows the blind or visually impaired to capture images of subjects, saving visual data as a 3D file that can be felt again later, much like flipping through a photo album, but with the magic of depth.



Q. How did you get inspired in this award?    

I am so proud and honored to receive feedback from such creative and aspirational individuals such as the "Asia design prize" judges. The exposure from winning enlarges the chances that the product will be mass produced, an option which to me, is a dream coming to life.


Q. When you design with team or personally, what do you think are the most important elements and capabilities in design?    

From my perspective, the talent needed for designing is the ability to observe and find opportunities for designing. Of course, a specific need can birth a new invention, but mostly I enjoy finding inspirations from an unexpected movement of an object in space, an organic beautiful object, and a basic and beautiful human interaction. I always try to find those places that make people reminisce and smile.



Q. What if you have memorable works besides your winning works?    

One project I am particularly proud of is a kit of wearable accessories that enables to incorporate flora in them. The toys allows preening with a fresh and different flower every day. Both urban and nature environments provide the child with a wide array of materials. The toy boosts the child’s curiosity and creativity eliciting a joyful search and fit activity. The game will generate original and artistic wearables that express the child’s free spirit.


Q. I am curious about the special design process of yourself.    

My design process most of the times starts with observations. I observe people behave in their natural surrounding with the products around them and attempt to find special opportunities for design. After I have few conceptual thoughts about the direction I can bring the product to, I begin to play with ideas and with shapes. The process of developing 2C3D was different and unique for me because it all started from my curiosity of interaction research. The magic happened when I combined my passion to find new human-computer interaction with a basic human need.

Q. What if you have the most inspired design books or mentors?    

I am inspired by the interactive artist Daniel Rozin. He works with the tension between art and technology. Rozin creates new experience for his audience, and many times his works will inspire people in galleries to wave their hands, make funny faces, etc. I try to implement in my own works some of the elements like creating new experience, make a real connection between the human and the object, always inviting the humoristic wink from my users.


Q. What do you want to achieve one’s goal in your life as a designer?    

I envision myself as a designer-inventor. I believe that every object has a hidden spark that a good design can bring to life. I aim to design objects that will open the door for magical moments in people's lives and that my design will enrich the experiences of people in all walks of life.
