According to an online survey on ‘what needs to be improved first and foremost in intra-city bus transportation service’, respondents picked ‘training programs for bus drivers (service and sudden stops while passengers getting on/off the bus)’ as the aspect where improvement is most required. Above all, a quick start upon passengers getting on/off the bus is a frequent cause of accidents, getting them to tumble at least once. Bus drivers should pay extra attention to the handicapped, the elderly and infirmed, and pregnant women as well as ordinary passengers while they get off the bus. The proposed universal bus bell is designed to inform bus drivers of who are to get off so as to prevent any accidents. Hearing the universal bell, a bus driver slows down in advance so that the passengers can get off the bus safely.
